Who is the best character in Borderlands 2?

Borderlands 2 takes place on the harsh and dangerous planet of Pandora. Players take on the role of one of the 6 Vault Hunters, each having their own unique abilities and skill trees.

When starting, you might be asking yourself which is the best character to play with, especially in solo or in co-op. For this reason we have written for you an article explaining the perks and downsides of each class. Axton the Commando

Axton the Commando

Axton is a former Dahl soldier and is equipped with a deployable turret that deals massive damage and can provide cover. His skill tree focuses on increasing the effectiveness of his turret, improving his gun damage, and increasing his survivability. Axton’s turret can also be modified to offer different abilities, such as healing or slagging enemies.

Action Skill: Deploys a Sabre Turret that automatically shoots at ennemies.

Solo: Can rely on it’s turret to deal damage and attract the enemies focus.
Co-op: The turret has a shield which can be used as a cover for Axton and his allies.

Maya the Siren

Maya the Siren

Maya is a powerful Siren, capable of phaselocking enemies and suspending them in mid-air. Her skill tree emphasizes crowd control and elemental damage, allowing her to stun enemies, ignite them, or corrode them with acid. Maya’s phaselock ability can also be used to heal herself or her teammates, making her an excellent support character.

Action Skill: Locks an enemy in the air for a few seconds, preventing him to move and making it easy to shoot at.

Solo: She deals high elemental damage and has very good survivability skills.
Co-op: Best for crowd control, can heal her allies and and even revive allies

Salvador is a grizzled gun-toting mercenary who can dual-wield any two weapons in the game. Salvador’s ability to dual-wield weapons allows him to deal massive amounts of damage quickly, making him a popular choice for players who like to get up close and personal with their enemies.

Action Skill: You have the ability to use 2 weapons simultaneously.

Solo: Use 2 weapons simultaneously, one for health regeneration and another for dealing damage.
Co-op: Can easily clear a room and then revive his allies. Appart from that Salvador is not the best for Co-op.

Zer0 the Assassin

Zer0 the Assassin

Zer0 is a mysterious assassin who can cloak himself and deal massive damage with his sniper rifle. His skill tree focuses on increasing his critical hit damage, improving his melee attacks, and making him harder to detect while cloaked. Zer0’s ability to cloak himself allows him to get close to his enemies unnoticed and deal massive damage, making him a popular choice for players who prefer a stealthier approach.

Action Skill: You create a holographic decoy of yourself who will attract the enemies, during this time you become invisible.

Solo: Great for taking down one enemy at a time, but not very good at taking damage. The best is to play sniper in solo.
Co-op: Can use his action skill to turn invisible and reanimate his allies.

Gaige the Mechromancer

Gaige the Mechromancer

Gaige is a teenage mechanic who has built her own robot companion named Deathtrap. Her skill tree focuses on improving Deathtrap’s abilities, increasing her elemental damage, and improving her survivability. Gaige’s robot companion can deal massive damage to enemies and can even draw their fire away from her, making her an excellent choice for players who prefer a more passive playstyle.

Action Skill: You summon a robot call “Deathtrap” who will fight with you.

Solo: Possibility to rely on Deathtrap the clear areas and tank in fights against bosses. Gaige also gets 2nd Wind from Deathtrap kills.
Co-op: Deathtrap can refill allies’ shields.

Krieg is a maniacal psychopath who wields a buzz saw and can enter a state of frenzy, increasing his melee damage and making him harder to kill. His skill tree focuses on improving his melee attacks, increasing his resistance to damage, and allowing him to set himself on fire for extra damage. Krieg’s ability to enter a state of frenzy allows him to dish out massive damage with his buzz saw, making him a popular choice for players who enjoy a more aggressive playstyle.

Action Skill: Increases your melee damage and for each enemy killed it refils your health.

Solo: Efficient in Melee and has skill to regenerate his health.
Co-op: Very good at tanking and get bosses attention.
