NEXT PLAYABLE SIREN IN BORDERLANDS 4?
BORDERLANDS NEWS
Can we guess who will be the next playable Siren in Borderlands 4?
The Borderlands universe is famous for its Sirens—mystical women with extraordinary powers. From Lilith to Amara, and of course the beloved Maya, Sirens have always been at the heart of the storyline. With Borderlands 4 on the horizon, one of the most exciting questions is: Who will be the next playable Siren?

A Quick Look at Sirens So Far
To make an educated guess, we need to revisit what we know about Sirens. According to Borderlands lore, only six Sirens can exist at any given time in the universe. Each one possesses unique powers, and when a Siren dies, her powers are transferred to someone else. Keeping that in mind, let’s dive into who might be the next playable Siren in Borderlands 4.
Here’s a recap of the Sirens we’ve encountered so far (spoiler alert!):
• Lilith: The first playable Siren, introduced in Borderlands.
Phasewalk: temporarily enter another dimension, becoming invisible and invulnerable while moving at increased speed
• Maya: Playable in Borderlands 2. She dies in Borderlands 3, and her powers are transferred to Ava.
Phaselock: suspend enemies in mid-air
• Commandant Steele: Dies in Borderlands. We don’t know her powers, nor who inherited them.
Unknown powers
• Angel: The Siren and daughter of Handsome Jack, who plays a major role in Borderlands and Borderlands 2. She dies in Borderlands 2, and her powers are transferred to Tannis.
Phaseshift: manipulate technology and interfaces remotely, controlling machines and systems from a distance
• Amara: Playable Siren in Borderlands 3.
Phasetrance: summons ethereal arms to deal heavy physical damage and control the battlefield
• Tyreen Calypso: A villain in Borderlands 3. We don’t yet know who received her powers.
Phaseleech: drain the life force of her enemies to heal herself and grow more powerful

Potential Candidates for the Next Siren
One assumption we can make is that Gearbox will want to introduce a new siren playstyle, which suggests that the next Siren won’t be someone who was previously playable. Based on that, we can likely rule out Lilith, Ava (who has Maya’s powers), and Amara.
Next, it’s reasonable to think that the new Siren will be a seasoned Vault Hunter, someone with experience with these powers. So a character who has recently acquired her powers—like Tyreen’s successor—might not yet be ready for Borderlands 4.
This leaves us with two main candidates: Commandant Steele’s unknown successor and Tannis.
- Tannis: A recurring NPC in Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 3, she now has Angel’s Phaseshift ability.
- Steele’s successor: We know little about Steele’s powers or who inherited them, making this a wildcard.
We already know Tannis back from Borderlands 2, she know has the Guardian Angel’s power: phaseshift ability. With Tannis, there is not much Gearbox can do here to surprise its players.
On the other side, given the mystery surrounding Steele’s successor, she is the best option for Gearbox. It gives them the creative freedom to introduce a new power set and develop a completely fresh character.
That’s why there’s a strong chance the next playable Siren in Borderlands 4 will be Steele’s successor!
