Playable Borderlands Pre-Sequel class: Claptrap the Fragtrap
Claptrap the Fragtrap.
Claptrap is an all-purpose robot that appears as a playable character in Borderlands Pre-Sequel and also as an NPC in Borderlands 2 and 3. It is a CL4P-TP and is manufactured by Hyperion.
Claptrap was given a massive programming upgrade after the Vault was opened by Jack. This led to his transformation into a playable character. Claptrap decided to rebel against the humans as they were constantly abusing the CL4P-TP units.
What is Claptrap’s life story?
Claptrap was made by Hyperion as a general robot. It was involved in missions such as leading the Vault Hunters to Fyrestone gate and T-Bone Junction.
Claptrap meets Jack sometime in Borderlands Pre-Sequel. It helps Jack by opening a door for him. During this encounter, Claptrap told Jack about the days when it used to be an assassin.
Jack was so inspired that he decided to upgrade Claptrap and reprogram it. However, during the reprogramming, Claptrap lost its abilities to open doors. Instead, it gained a new set of skills, including combat skills and wheels for climbing stairs. Lo and behold! Claptrap, the Fragtrap was born!
After his defeat, Jack destroyed the Claptrap units at Pandora, except for the Fragtrap. Instead, he shoots it and also rips out its wheels and leaves it to die amongst the Windshear Waste. It was the Fragtrap coding that kept it alive until it was found by Sir Hammerlock who repairs it.
What does Claptrap look like?
Claptrap is a relatively small robot. It is wider on top with its eye in the middle, which also functions as the camera. It is narrower on the bottom and has one wheel which allows it to climb stairs and ladders, and even sprint and jump. It also has movable arms which assist it while in combat.
Aesthetically, it has a yellow-colored border with a white stripe in the middle.
What is Claptrap’s personality like?
Claptrap, the Fragtrap has a bubbly or annoying personality depending on how you see it. It has a tendency to exaggerate and overdramatize everything about its experiences. It sometimes expresses physical pain but is oblivious to it at another time.
It also has a tendency to talk non-stop and annoy a lot of folks around him. It is the only Claptrap unit to have a name, and it is extremely proud of this fact. It also expresses feelings of loneliness and jealousy, especially when it comes across another Claptrap unit whose only job is to open doors.
What are Claptrap’s skills?
Claptrap’s skill is vaulthunter.exe, which allows it to analyze the situation in a fight and load the most suitable program for it. It analyses things such as the numbers of enemies present, low shields, nearby teammates, and so on.
Activating this skill fills its appropriate fighting skills and style. It also regenerates its health as well as its shield. Action packages that can be activated include:
- Torque Fiesta
- Pirate Ship Mode
- Gun Wizard
- Laser Inferno
- One shot wonder
It has three skill trees which are Boomtrap, I love you guys and Fragmented Fragtrap.
