While money is still an essential currency in Borderlands 4, its importance has dropped off a bit now that we have various ways to heal back up, regenerate ammo, and get low-level weapons. With that said, you’ll still need it if you want to farm bosses, especially at higher levels, and you’ll find yourself burning through cash if you keep dying.

Luckily, farming cash is incredibly easy and typically comes from the same sources where you get loot. In the next few sections, we’ll be sharing a couple of the best moneymaking methods in Borderlands 4 that you can do right now.

Splashzone

Location: Coastal Bonescape
Type: Boss Farm

Why Farm Splashzone?

Splashzone is one of, it not the first farmable boss in the game, and he’s essentially just a beefier badass psycho that you can delete within seconds. With how fast it is to kill him, you can rack up an inventory full of junk gear in no time. This may not sound like much at first, but it quickly adds up to the point where you can get millions very quickly.

For context, I’m writing this while playing a level 40+ character. An average Splashzone kill is enough to pay for around 9-10 more attempts at over $25,000 each respawn. This adds up very quickly, and you can get much more if you regularly get unwanted blue and purple gear. The worst-case scenario is that you refund your kill, but that’s highly unlikely.

How to Farm Splashzone?

This farm can be started as soon as you reach the open world and kill Splashzone for the first time. This will let you use the Moxxi’s Big Encore machine right outside his arena. The farm goes like this:

  1. Make your way to the Moxxi’s Big Encore machine outside Splashzone’s arena.
  2. Pay the fine to respawn him (the fee increases per level).
  3. Jump into his arena and kill him.
  4. Grab ALL of the gear he drops. Pick up anything you don’t want to keep as junk.
  5. Jump back outside the arena and quick sell junk at the ammo vending machine (right beside the Encore machine).
  6. Repeat from step 2 until satisfied with the amount of money accrued.

TIPS

  • It’s highly unlikely but entirely possible that you get a kill where you lose money, so make sure to have enough for two attempts if you’re just starting.
  • There is a small gap in the bridge between Splashzone’s arena and the Moxxi’s Big Encore machine, so be ready to double jump and hover a lot.
  • Splashzone always spawns alongside a pair of regular enemies, so make sure to clear the arena before inspecting all the loot.
  • He can leave trails that damage you over time, so be careful while looting him. These damaging pools will despawn within a few seconds.

Foundry Freaks

Location: Idolator’s Noose
Type: Drill Site Farm

Why Farm the Foundry Freaks?

Drill Sites in general are a great source of general loot, and in the case of the Foundry Freaks, you’ll have three bosses that are guaranteed to drop expensive junk gear. They’re incredibly easy to kill as well, especially if you have ways to deal splash damage to them all at once.

They’re a step up from farming plain boss arenas due to the waves of regular and badass mobs that you’ll have to deal with first, which can drop additional loot. Overall, you can expect to make around $1,000,000+ per clear at a relatively high level.

How to Farm the Foundry Freaks?

To start the farm, you will need to make your way to the southern part of Idolator’s Noose. There, you’ll find a Drill Site next to the coast, to the southwest of Fortress Indomita. Here’s how the farm flows:

  1. Activate the Moxxi’s Big Encore machine to start the activity.
  2. Go in and clear all the enemy waves until the bosses spawn.
  3. Kill the Foundry Freaks (Frank the Furnace, Hank the Welder, and Sal the Engineer).
  4. Clear any remaining enemies as more will spawn alongside the bosses.
  5. Loot EVERYTHING.
  6. Run out and sell all your junk at the ammo vending machine nearby.
  7. Repeat from step 1 until satisfied.

TIPS

  • Using a Firewerks shield from Splashzone can significantly speed up the farm, as it will clear enemies away from your line of sight as you kill other targets.
  • The bosses are all armored, so bring a corrosive weapon if you have any. Once their armor has been depleted, they become extremely squishy.
  • Take a lap around the entire arena once you’ve cleared it as to not miss any loot drops, as the money from the junk here, even white items, adds up.
  • There is a decent chance to get pearlescent weapons from this activity, and it’s a great XP farm in general too.
