The Minecraft Easter Egg is an hidden cave in the Caustic Caverns.
Once inside, you’ll face explosive Creepers and earn unique rewards like the Longbow sniper rifle and Blockhead shotgun, along with character skins and Eridium. This is a must-see for fans of both Borderlands and Minecraft.
REQUIREMENTS
- Recommended Level: 30+
- Quest Progression: Must have completed Chapter 9 of the main story
- DLC Needed: None
- Fast Travel Unlock: Sanctuary Hole → Caustic Caverns
LOCATION
The Caustic Caverns map is only available after chapter 9, once Sanctuary has taken-off. Caustic Caverns is accessible from Sanctuary Hole.
- Head to Caustic Caverns via Sanctuary Hole.
- Head northwest in the map toward the Guardian Ruins area.
- Follow the minecart tracks to the far-right track and look for a ledge on the left-hand side.
- Jump across to the ledge and drop down into a cave wall made of Minecraft-style blocks.
- Melee the blocks to open the path into the secret Minecraft cave.
WHAT YOU’LL FIND
Enemies:
- Normal Creepers (explode on contact)
- Badass Creeper (tougher variant, drops loot)
Loot & Rewards:
- Longbow (Legendary Sniper Rifle)
- Blockhead (Unique Shotgun – fires incendiary cubes in a 3×3 grid)
- Minecraft-themed heads and skins for all Vault Hunters
- Eridium, ammo, and cash from resource blocks (coal, gold, amethyst)
Visuals & Design:
- Block-breaking mechanics inspired by Minecraft gameplay
- Classic Minecraft elements like torches, blocky walls, and pixel textures
TIPS & NOTES
- The Blockhead and the Longbow can be farmed by re-entering the area.
- You can return here anytime — enemies and blocks reset on each visit.
- If you’re trophy hunting, this area is part of several skin/weapon collection achievements.
Skins
Get rid of the creepers in the cavern to unlock character skins.
Weapons
The Badass creeper has a chance to drop one of the two Legendary weapons: Longbow and Blockhead.
Loot
Smash the blocks to get Eridium, Money and Ammo.
